Collaborative Keys as Collaborative Writing: Creating Meaningful Writing Opportunities in Asynchronous Online Classes
Homework is often a solitary activity, but several instructors have experimented with ways to create community by bringing students together, such as “homework hours” or project-based learning groups. Laura Le, Senior Lecturer in the Division of Biostatistics & Health Data Science Education in the School of Public Health, will present a new collaborative writing task that promotes conceptual understanding and encourages meaningful collaboration and community. This workshop will introduce collaborative keys as a strategy for meaningful active learning and writing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own assignments, as time will be devoted to building similar activities across course contexts and audiences.
Facilitated by Laura Le (Senior Lecturer, School of Public Health and Dan Emery (Assistant Director, Writing Across the Curriculum).
Workshop available in-person on the Twin Cities campus and online for all UMN campuses.
